The food was not quite so reasonably priced, but the quality more than made up for it. However my poor little purse was too barren to afford food so I bought some beautiful burnt orange germinis to brighten up my new home. Emma and I strolled home along the canal, soaking up the last of the autumn sunshine, discussing how lucky we are to live in such a wonderful city, and what the 14yr old versions of us would think of who we are and the life we lead. We decided they would be happy enough; its not perfect but its a pretty charmed life.

Autumnal Saturdays
I decided that I would have a productive Saturday this week and not my usual lounging around dissecting the night before whilst nursing my head and making excuses not to leave the house. So wrapped up in our warmest finery - I chose a chunky cream scary, bright red cardi-coat, cream thigh-high socks and layered gold jumper over a Lycra green dress - me and a couple pals decided that Broadway Market was how we want to spend the lovely sunny Saturday that was bestowed upon us. We sampled the biggest variety of sauces, pestos, olives and cakes that could have been on offer and the bite size pieces made any calorie significance insignificant. The Vintage selection was brilliant and pretty reasonably priced too. however, the men's vintage was really impressive, there were plaid shirts and tweed jackets as far as the eye could see.

New Shoes
As my time in China was drawing to an end I began to notice all the beautiful Chinese ladies tottering around in fabulous clogs; black with studs, pink and floral, white and ornate, every variety imaginable. They looked high and awkward but incredible! I became obsessed. Everywhere I went I was in search of the perfect clog. I wanted simple black and high. But alas no shoes were to be found and I gave up hope of ever finding these elusive shoes. So imagine my surprise when browsing the images of Chanel's Spring 2010 RTW Paris show - the barn dance and Lily Allen combo was genius by the way- I saw clogs, beautiful impractical clogs. They were adorned in poppies, pearls and lace, in red, black and white. I loved them; Chanel have made a clumpy wooden shoe elegant and chic. The same cannot be said about the Louis Vuitton version, which was slightly more car crash couture in my eyes. Now I must just eagerly await the Topshop version unless Santa is feeling particularly flush this Christmas.

Cemetery Times
So I have had the dreadful combination of laziness and lack of Internet, but fear not, the engineer is coming round next week to bestow some lovely Internet upon us and i can't bloody wait!
However even if my musings and exploits haven't been recorded on the blogspere they have been happening don't you worry. I'm currently as poor as a church mouse and busy as a bee as i am thrown back into the life of a student. Settling into the new place has taken time but now we have a lovely little home made.
Our house backs onto an overgrown Gothic cemetery with broken headstones and creeping vines. It is so beautiful and eerie that half of me wants to creep around and explore and the other half is rather afraid of what lurks around each corner. The leaves are starting to fall right now so it feels like the perfect place to stroll through under low autumn sun wrapped up in my woolly tights and fur stole. These are going to become my winter staples - I have never been a trousers girl and i think a fur stole is the scarfs classier cousin. So here is my take on my favourite season; mixing tweeds with fur and big thick knits to welcome the cold front in style. But as my church mouse status makes these items beyond reach it is just a wish list for now.

Moving House
So again I have been neglecting my lovely little blog but I have been going through the motions of moving house back to good old London town in time for the start of term.
And what a lovely new home I have found! It is a big grand designs cube with 3 bedrooms and a modern clean canvas. When we walked into the kitchen/dinner/lounge we were gripped by the orange curtains, brown sofas and dark brown table, these details mixed with my flatmates retro crockery collection have led us neatly into a kick ass seventies vibe living space. The fella's mum is even planning on donating a 70's barrel bar to complete the look.
So for now my mind is filled with preoccupations about finding storage and pictures, frames and mirrors for my new abode. Top on the 'To-Do-List' is home Internet, and then I promise ill be all yours my little blog; regaling you with all the wonderful sights of London town and its fashion forward.

Dreams in Luxe
Well I'm sorry again for the lack of blog posting but the Internet seems to hate me. I cannot go near it without it breaking. So I've come to my fathers and am hijacking his instead. I'm a pretty clever girl underneath these bangs.
So autumn/winter is upon us; it's in the shops,it's in the magazines and it's outside our very own front door. I know this might be quite a strange statement but I do quite like winter. You can wear beautiful coats, big chunky scarves, layering double cardies with pretty dresses and thick cable knit tights. It is a time where more means more and i love it!
Now i loved Chloe's Spring/Summer 09 collection. Those scalloped shorts were to die for. They haven't disappointed with their A/W 09/10 pret-a-porter collection either, whats more their ad campaign is beautiful; Its like little house on the prairie meets Charlies Angels in the most luxurious materials imaginable. The runway show was such a range of looks i just don't know where to start. Hannah MacGibbon used pressed felt, soft flannel, blanket wools, silk, leather and velvet. The pieces had an impeccable tailoring, the pieces were in some places boxy and masculine held in with tight woven belts. And then on the other side there were feminine blouses, floaty Grecian dresses and sparkles.

So my favourite 3pieces; the one shoulder velvet(?) all in one, the velvet dungarees with chain straps and the jacquard blouse with embellished shoulders. OK well only choosing 3 pieces doesn't really sum up how much i loved this collection, we haven't even got to the OTK leather boots or the fact Hannah showed embellished sandals in a WINTER collection. Oh and the tassels....

NEUROTICA FOR TOPSHOP
Shared via AddThis
Oh my my. Never have I ever been so excited about a Topshop collaboration in my little life of 21 years. The British indie label, Neurotica, has teamed up with the highstreet mega store and created a gothic Kate-Bush-at-Studio-54 inspired collection. My favourite peices are the hotpanted bodysuit and the floor lenght dress both in a monochrome spiderweb/firework esq print. Only 8 sleeps till launch time....

Return to the Motherland
Firstly apologies for the absence from my little blog but you know how it is; Chinese media crackdown and that. But after a month of travelling around Malaysia I am back in good Old Blighty, re-united with my Nylon, my Vintage and of course my little Blog.
Coming back has taken a little adjusting. It has felt like being taken out of a fashion jail and allowed to roam amongst the fashion forward again. Though, in saying that, I don't think the trends have changed all that much, the whole rock-chick and body-con is still around, much to my delight. Someone who I have been tracking on the blogs and fashions hit and miss sites has been Taylor Momsen. Although it disturbs me somewhat that she is only 16, her style has propelled her into the heights of a bon-a-fidé style icon. She has quite a one dimensional look but one that is bang on trend and pretty easy to mimic. Topshop's new line "Horror Girl" looks like it could have been ripped straight out of Miss Momsen’s wardrobe. So which came first the Momsen or the look?

To be honest the whole Disturbed Teen Grunge Goth look has been done a million times over but TM - being the stratospheric Gossip Girl star she is - has made it cool again. Maybe I’m just jealous I didn't do it first, and that I can't find a shade of purple lipstick quite as fitting as hers. Jealousy aside here is my take on the Momsen Look, enjoy.
