Style Advisor

I am fully aware that my love for Chloe Sevigny is borderline creepy but I don't care. She is probably my number 1 modern day style icon and so you can understand my excitement in seeing her as the cover for the April issue for ELLE UK.
Throughout 2009 Chloe was acting style advisor in ELLE, offering her pearls of wisdom to style confused ladies all over the UK, and it is nice to see they have asked this lady back for an interview and shoot for this year's style issue. I also love the fact that the Miu Miu collection was a massive component of this editorial (she even said in the that it was one of her favourite collections of S/S 10), the dog print has even been used in the ELLE title.

Clogs were also a big part of the feature. Sick of them yet? I am not and am also in something of a clog related predicament.

Should I save up and make the investment of the Miu Miu Daisy Clog,
get on the waiting list for the much cheaper Jeffrey Campbell Charlie C Clogs

or go ahead and get the Jeffrey Campbell Splendid Clog?
Stylistically my favourite would be the Miu Miu then the Charlie C and the Splendid. But I want clogs now and not sure if a £300 purchase on the Miu Mius is justified. I wish Chloe was my style advisor I am sure she would know what to do.

Oscars Verdict

Beautiful, classic and chic. I love Meryl Streep's look, it's glam in all the right ways. The hair and jewellery perfectly complement the simple and flattering Chris March dress. I don't think there is a need to dress conservatively as you get older, but that doesn't meant you should bear all, all the time either. What Meryl shows with the plunging V of this dress is how a little flesh can go along way, please take note Mariah.

Now I know this maybe controversial but I am not a massive fan of this look. Cameron Diaz normally rocks a much more thrown-together look (of which I am a fan) but this is all a bit too neat and over worked for my liking. I have no problem with the Oscar de la Renta dress, in fact its actually quite lovely but the hair and diamonds are far too "Dallas" for and it spoils the whole thing.

I think Ouch pretty much sums up this whole look. I know it's silly to expect subtlety from Mariah Carey but it's the Oscars not the Razzies and they require a tiny bit more material than this in my view. The Valentino Haute Couture dress just does not work well on her silhouette and in my opinion makes her look a bit thick in the waist.

The battle of the Armani Prive! Well in all honesty I am still a bit confused by the material which bears a very close resemblance to bubble wrap, however, in my view Amanda Seyfried has won hands down for me. She is commanding the beauty of this dress, whilst J-Lo looks a bit enveloped by it. Who is your Armani Prive champ?

Friday Muse

Cher Horowitz from Clueless was my Friday muse.

I woke up in a big old grump on Friday and decided that I would purposely pursue the merits of the day starting with a bit of good old fashioned dress up. So I milkmaid braided my hair and decided that Friday was as perfect day as any to dress like one if my many fashion idols Cher Horowitz. I remember when I first watched Clueless how jealous I was of Cher's wardrobe machine and how it produced perfectly matching outfits. Incredible. Unfortunately my wardrobe is not computerized, very lacking in the plaid and about a quarter of the size. My option were therefore fairly limited but knew I could manage to scramble together something, how about her chic combo of a shrunken jumper over a shirt.

Now I am aware that Cher would probably be horrified that my colours aren't even close to matching, but duh its all about personal style!

Following a brilliant day of Vietnamese noodle soup washed down with beer at lunch and some Caramel nibbles purchased on the way home I realised that maybe dressing like Cher could be my route to happiness, I mean she really did have it down in the style stakes. More plaid is definitely a start.

Versus Fall 2010RTW

I am a party dress kind of girl and so the fall collection from Versus was sure to make my little heart skip a beat. As the junior line of Versace, Christopher Kane and Donatella Versace collaborated to create a youthful, flirty and strong line that demonstrates a real fusion of Kane's modern aesthetic and Versace's strong history. They drew on some of the heritage of the Versace brand by finding archive Bruce Weber for Versace photos and printing them onto the T-shirts and bags. Kane's masterful craftsmanship and knowledge of how young women want to dress was demonstrated through the show stopping cupcake skirts and tailored leather jackets. The whole collection was extremely strong, and I for one would very happily strut my stuff in any of these sassy little numbers.
